World Forum for Acoustic Ecology (WFAE)
Attached to the World Soundscape Project (WSP) through the Simon Frasier University (SFU) is the World Forum for Acoustic Ecology (WFAE) which has been running since 1993 and functions as a universal hub for the other official acoustic ecology forums. This could be considered the main centre for research and discussion on the ecological issues.
The website provides information on each representative of each affiliated forum with links to those official forum websites. Some of the representatives a very clear focus on research, and not so much of a musical portfolio, which is interesting to see the development within the field since the days of the WSP.
Soundscape is the official journal of the WFAE and has been running since 2000, along with a video library which is brimming with excellent and informative material.
The forum also supports the Invisible Places and Sounding Cities programs which deal with urban soundscapes and issues and have a vast library of publications, discussions, sound files, and music from within the scientific community, with the last symposium held in 2014.
Since 2000 the WFAE has made a fantastic contribution via the Journal of Acoustic Ecology with a selection which is completely free to access up to 2013. More information can be found in the editorial committee information page.
