Peter Ablinger is a visiting Professor of Composition at the University of Huddersfield as part of the Centre for Research in New Music (CeReNeM), and studied with Gösta Neuwirth and Roman Haubenstock-Ramati in Vienna.

Professor Ablinger is interested in the use of noise and noises, and has a large portfolio of work including soundscapes and listening plus his Landscape Opera (2008) in which the seven acts consist of different events or compositions, which make up the opera. This includes the planting of trees and re-arrangement of the soundscape in the physical world - an alteration to the landscape to create a new soundscape, plus six more acts with details found on the Landscape Opera website.
